An early color study of Wisp.

SKETCH1

The prize drawing for a co-worker, featuring Wisp with Whip and a unused nightmare.

"Fixated on her idol Tinsel, Wisp's fractured personalities all have their say in the best way to seek approval. ...It often involves violence."

- From the Cast page of the Dreamkeepers website

Wisp is a Dark Dreamkeeper working for the Nightmares and is the major antagonist of Volume 2.

Appearance[]

Wisp is a blueish Dreamkeeper with little black wings and a tiny waist.  She wears a skin-tight outfit of white and blue. She has a fox-like tail matching the colors of her fur and hair.

Personality[]

Wisp has a very unique and yet unusual nature to her, as she appears to suffer from an extreme form of multiple-personality syndrome which cause her to act differently depending on her mood or the situation. Almost manic in a way, these have an effect on how she can appear to people while also extending to her "Power". In one moment she can be acting on a normal level, then the next she will be very emotional, she can then turn angry or even depressed.

Wisp seems to consider these different sides of her to be like individual beings as she is known to consult them on certain opinions. These sides of her are generally defined by her eye color; like when angry her eyes turn pinkish red, while bright yellow eyes represent her extreme happiness.

Wisp seems to show great fear and respect for Nabonidus to where she will do anything to make him proud; though she has the same mindset for Tinsel, who doesn't share her enthusiasm or trust.

Volume 2[]

Chapter 4[]

Early one morning, while Tinsel is trying on outfits in her room, Wisp phases through her mirror, startling her. Wisp begins apologizing for her failure at Grunn's orphanage, but Tinsel tells her that there was nothing she could do for her. Warning her that Nabonidus would be looking for her, Wisp runs off into the wall sobbing.

Sometime later, Wisp and Randy look for Mace and Whip in one of their hideouts, but they aren't around. Wisp falls to her knees in defeat, then swats Randy away when he tries to comfort her. Wisp then blamed Randy for the plan failing, but Randy defended himself by saying he merely suggested the plan. Wisp falls to her knees again in depression, then sees the looming shadow of Nabonidus in front of her. She turns to the mouth of the hideout to see him. As Randy backed away, Nabonidus addressed Wisp, claiming that he was there to give her a chance at redemption for her unauthorized plan. Elated, she asked for a monster. She and Nabonidus looked to Randy as he went on to claim that her plan was his idea all along. Wisp levitated by Nabonidus's side as he chose to recruit Randy, then teleported himself and Wisp away.

Later that day, on the slopes of Starfall, the protagonists turn around to see Wisp emerging from the snow on the back of a large Nightmare. Wisp splits herself apart as she and the Nightmare prepare to attack.

Chapter 5[]

As the Nightmare pursued the protagonists, Wisp barked commands at it until Whip flew by with a snowball, flinging it into her face. Enraged, she split herself apart and chased him as he dove into the snow. One of the copies told the others that he wasn't their target. Pulling herself together, Wisp left Whip to chase after the others.

Wisp catches up to them in an air pocket of snow, but the Nightmare falls in on top of her.

Minutes later, as Mace and Namah slide down to a shallow lake, Wisp attacks them. Mace attempts to stun her by throwing a rock, but Wisp uses her Power to make the rock go through her head, hitting Namah instead. Wisp then splits herself, sending one copy after Mace while sicking the others on a stunned Namah. As Namah tries to defend herself, she asks if Wisp was the one Tinsel was talking about murdering. Wisp's personality copies yell at her, then become distracted by a rumbling noise, mistaking it for hunger. Suddenly, an air geyser erupts, sending the three copies into the air. The fourth copy leaves Mace to catch up to the others.

Later that day, Wisp stalks the protagonists from the shadows as they make their way through the forest region of the mountains. She sneers and sheds a tear as Namah quips about Tinsel's decision to kill Wisp.

Minutes later, as Mace breaks away from the group to urinate off of a cliff, Wisp and her Nightmare appear right in front of him. Wisp screams in horror at Mace with his pants down, then sics the Nightmare on him as she flies away.

Volume 3[]

Chapter 7[]

The next day, as Tinsel throws a tantrum in the Viscount's art gallery with a sledgehammer, Wisp casually talks about her adventure on Starfall. She prattles on as Tinsel swings the sledgehammer at her head, only for it to phase through her because of her Power. A servant calls out for Tinsel, forcing Wisp to hide behind an oddly-shaped sculpture. After he leaves, Wisp contemplates killing Lilith and Namah, but Tinsel orders her to leave and find some other way to destroy her life. Agreeing, Wisp phases through the wall.

Chapter 9[]

Later that day, Wisp returns to her home in the Sacrare church crypt, only to find it demolished due to Mace, Whip and Ravat's encounter.

Volume 4[]

Chapter 10[]

The next day, Wisp appears before Randy and the other orphans at the orphanage. As she splits herself apart to greet the other orphans at once, she informs Randy that she was there to awaken his Power.

Chapter 12[]

As Wisp and Randy attempt to unlock Randy's Power in a room at the orphanage, she gets annoyed when he wants another game break. She is then surprised to see his halo suddenly appear, but she is frozen in time as a result of his Power. As Randy's Power vanishes after he runs off to show the other orphans, Wisp runs out in excitement. As Narp shows concern and asks Wisp about their plans, she tells him that only those who deserve to get hurt will suffer. After an uneasy silence, Wisp and an unnamed orphan follow Randy as he grows impatient with the other orphans and leaves.

Volume 5[]

Power and Abilities[]

Density and Diffusion Manipulation: Wisp's "Power" involves being able to alter her body's density and/or cell structure in order to perform a number of abilities that suit the situation; whether it be for combat or infiltration. While active a light-purple colored halo appears above her head.

  • Phasing: Wisp can diffuse herself through solid objects, be it walls, oncoming projectiles or even attacks; so long of course as she is aware enough to actively trigger her power.
WispDuplicates

Wisp, displaying her ability to duplicate herself.

  • Duplication: Wisp can separate herself into multiple clones, each of which seem to occupy a part of her fractured personality and are even capable of conversing with each other individually. However the more clones she produces this way the more diaphonous they become.
  • Flight: Through her Power, she can make her body light enough to where it can float or fly great distances.

Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Because of the mastery of her Power, Wisp is capable of overwhelming her enemies with multiple slashes from her clawed hands. This is only magnified when using her copies on the same enemy.

Trivia[]

  • A different color glows in her eyes accordingly to the emotion she's experiencing (for example: turn pinkish red with anger, bright yellow for happiness, etc.)
  • Has seen Mace without pants.
  • Has made her base in a dingy, decrepit crypt area underneath a church in the Theophanies District.
  • The nature of how Wisp knows Randy is unknown. However, their relationship predates the beginning of Volume 1, as their plot to kidnap Mace had been planned long before the beginning of the series.

Quotes[]

  • "Wisp redeemed? Thank you! Thank you! - Can I have a monster?"
